John Gibbs is a critic, film historian and video essayist.
He is an editor of Movie: a journal of film criticism and series co-editor of Palgrave Close Readings in Film and Television.
Professor of Film at the University of Reading, where with colleagues he leads an interdisciplinary summer school on videographic methods for researchers in areas beyond film and television, John is a founder board member of Screen Berkshire, a Scientific Associate at the Natural History Museum and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Research (Heritage & Creativity).
